As the first chapter in PA, we are now serving the Slate Belt Community. We are part of the National Organization. We will be bringing our message of Hope and Support to the Women of our area. We want them to know they are not alone in their fight. We also want them to know how proud of them we are as they fight one of the worst afflictions out there.
Our trucks will go out and visit those who are home bound to bring the support to them. We will be doing appearances out in the community as well. Our chapters are across the country and are run strictly on a volunteer basis. This means that any funds raised in our communities stay in our community. There are no fees that get sent back to our National Office, there are no executive salaries to be paid out before the monies are available. The only cost to the chapters is the maintenance to the vehicle. All other monies will be used in the community in the fight against Cancer. Not any 1 specific type but all cancers affecting our women. Our truck (MARGARET) was purchased from the East Bangor Fire Department whom in turn received it from the Portland Fire Department where she was first put in service right out of the showroom. Although she is no longer being used for Fire Suppression, she is still in fact serving the slate Belt community. She will be dressed in pink and serve as our symbol of hope. Our chapter is made up of dedicated individuals from the Emergency Services Fields. We will be adding to our membership roster soon, please watch here for future information. |
